Choosing Your First Outdoor Barbeque Grill

You would be overwhelmed by the sheer variety of barbeque grills available. Each one offers some advantage that the others don’t, and unless you go well prepared with some prior knowledge about the differences between them, choosing the right one could be a daunting task.

 

Charcoal Grills

Charcoal grills are the most popular of all grills. They come in all sizes and shapes and are small enough for people who live in apartments or smaller homes. Charcoal grill use lighter fluid and charcoal as fuel. It is recommended that you clean your charcoal grill after each use, before you put it away.

Propane Grills

Propane grills as the name suggests use propane gas as fuel for cooking food. Propane offers you the advantage of cooking meats in a shorter period of time while still retaining the grilled flavor. These grills are also small enough to be conveniently used by apartment dwellers and people in smaller houses.

Natural Gas Grills

Natural gas grills are designed to be hooked up directly to the natural gas line in your home and it cooks meat in record time. These grills are more complex than other smaller grills and do take up more space.

Smoker Grills

Smoker Grills impart that irresistible smoked flavor to your barbeque meats and are the perfect choice when flavor is your main priority. Smoker grills slow cook meat using wood as fuel. Different woods impart different flavors so flavor can be controlled by the choice of wood.

What to Consider When Buying Your First Grill

Every grill comes with its own advantages as well as its own disadvantages. Before going out to buy a grill you should decide what it is you are looking for in a grill and weigh your available space as well as budget options so that you can buy one that is best suited for you.

Cost

Depending on the make and the available features, barbeques could be downright cheap or extremely expensive. If you have budget constraints then go in for a charcoal grill which is a less expensive option. Smaller charcoal grills could be got for as little as $10 or $15 at discount department stores. Propane grills are a slightly more expensive option, starting at approximately $100 and smoker grills are even more expensive at a starting price of $130. Natural gas grills, at a starting price of $300, are at the higher end of the cost spectrum. The most expensive are multiple fuel grills whose prices go upwards from $450.

Flavor

Smoker grills impart a true ‘smoked’ flavor to the food and should be your first choice if your space and budget allows for it. Different wood chips or wood impart a different flavor to the meat, which makes this grill very versatile. If you love the smoked flavor but find the smoker grill too slow, then you could go with the charcoal grill. A charcoal grill cooks meat faster and still provides a ‘smoked’ flavor, but this cannot be controlled.

Space

You should consider our available space when going to buy a grill. Besides space to use it, when it is not in use, a barbeque grill could take u a considerable amount of storage space. Propane grills as well as charcoal grills are ideal choices for smaller spaces such as city homes or apartments. If you have storage space, then you have a whole wide vriety of options open to you.
